Research Note

DECAY is an open research lab focused on measuring digital decay. We track the half-life of information, model performance degradation, and codebase entropy. Our tools help engineers and researchers design systems that degrade gracefully instead of failing catastrophically.

Core Thesis

Everything digital decays. Storage is permanent, but meaning is not. Models drift. Dependencies rot. Data becomes noise. DECAY exists to make this process measurable, predictable, and manageable. We build open protocols, visualization tools, and analytical frameworks for entropy in digital systems.

2% Protocol Fee

A 2% protocol fee is applied to measurement queries and data access. The fee supports continuous research, open-source tooling development, Entropy Index maintenance, and long-term operational sustainability of the DECAY platform.

DECAY AGENCY

DECAY Agency is the operational and research arm of the DECAY protocol. We focus on measuring digital entropy across codebases, AI models, datasets, and long-lived systems. Our work includes developing open measurement frameworks, publishing entropy research, and building tools that help teams design systems with intentional, graceful degradation rather than uncontrolled decay.
